STATE OF BLACK EDUCATION SUMMIT 1  RECAP:

The Black Leaders Collective  launched "The State of Black Education" as part of their ongoing work in education. We developed a plan in 2021 to organize interactive events for black families, focusing on the most marginalized. The goal is to ensure that all types of schools in Central Texas cater to the needs of Black children. The marketing campaign for the first summit began two months prior, utilizing digital platforms, emails, social media, phone calls, and press releases. This was a free event. Over 370 people registered online, with 152 officially checked in and around 250 to 300 attendees participated throughout the day. The Black Leaders Collectives used tools and techniques like the interactive hopes and dream board, Mentimenter live-polling, break-out sessions, affinity groups, town-hall style reflections, collective learning and community joy to create a sense of community belonging and safety.

Summit II  is about a unified and cohesive community message and  scorecard for public, private, and charter schools with significant Black student attendees. The data collected from participants at the August 2023 State of Black Education Summit will be shared to guide deeper conversations on what a new model for community accountability methods and measurements can look like to drive positive outcomes for Black students. This data-driven event will collect information for processing through fun and intentional interactive breakout sessions, focus groups, affinity group sign-ups, and a town hall.

The Black Leaders Collective holds your voice, lived experiences, and trust in the highest regard. We are committed to safeguarding your personal information and ensuring that all feedback shared remains anonymous and responsibly managed.
