Join Black Leaders Collective

Who we are

*We call ourselves collaborators, not members, because we move as a collective body; executing the same plan that we created together.

The Black Leaders Collective is a collaboration of Central Texas leaders representing grassroots community members, nonprofits leaders, entrepreneurs, artists, activists, educators, policymakers, and young professionals. We are building a transformative movement that is intersectional and intergenerational. We are creating a mechanism for change that is Black-conceived and Black-led to define the priorities of the Black diaspora in Central Texas.  Our members represent entrepreneurs, grassroot volunteers, educators, policy makers, government workers and local politicians. We all come to the table to   Black Leaders Collective welcomes the support of all Black leaders and allies. The Black Leaders Collective welcomes the support of additional Black leaders and allies.

What we do

The importance in identifying Central Texas Leaders is the collaborated brain-trust formed, relevant community issues identified and supported as we go back into communities. As a result, we have Issue Groups that impact all of us.  Areas that reverberate across the Central Texas Black diaspora, speaking to the relevance of the surrounding communities.

As you get to know us, we’d like to get to know you to enable our working together in a positive manner.  We invite you to join us. Sign up to participate in a BLC Issue Group that speaks to your interests and expertise. This is our work. We must own it and do it together.

Engagement

We are engaging with the systems around us.  Providing constructive input, offering dialog that supports the issues that impact our communities.  It’s important that our voices are heard at the decision tables that speak our way of life.  Our discovery is that we live in areas outside of Austin, but work in the city.  Some of us have grown up in Austin and do not live in the surrounding areas.  Our dollars are spent in a variety of areas; however, we want our dollars to count supporting black businesses as well.  Support of black businesses is key in growing the circulation of the dollar in our communities. Our combined knowledge and resources enlighten, strengthen our unity as we work within our communities as well.

About you…

We invite you to join us. Sign up to participate in a BLC Issue Group that speaks to your interests and expertise. This is our work. We must own it and do it together.  Let us know who you are, if you are representing an organization and where you think you can best use your skills.
